The Guardian has contacted the Evening Standard for comment and is awaiting a reply. The Evening Standard has published full photos of Knowles on its website and Instagram page. She also posted an image of the cover of the magazine and circled where the braids were. Knowles posted excerpts from the interview on Instagram Stories, where posts disappear after 24 hours, including her quotes about braiding. The piece describes braiding as “important” to Knowles and quotes her as saying that it is an “act of beauty, an act of convenience and an act of tradition” and that it is an “art form”. The article was published online under the headline “Solange Knowles: ‘I miss out on chances by wanting control over my body’”. “I told my editors to take my name off of the byline because they distorted my work and reporting in ways that made me very uncomfortable, which was heartbreaking given how much work I put into it and my interest in Solange as an artist.” The entire piece was a fiasco despite my efforts. In a series of tweets, Angelica Bastien said: “I am publicly disowning the Solange piece London Evening Standard published today. Most recently, he crafted a series of coordinating looks for her music video for the track Don’t Touch My Hair. Verse 1: Solange Don't touch my hair When it's the feelings I wear Don't touch my soul When it's the rhythm I know Don't touch my crown They say the vision I've found Don't touch what's there.
